Passo Giau is much more than just a destination; it’s a journey that fills your eyes and heart. Starting at the Palui picnic area in Pescul Val Fiorentina, where I stopped for a meal surrounded by nature, I then continued along a road that feels like a painting, passing through Selva di Cadore. Beyond the town center, the scenery becomes increasingly breathtaking as you approach the pass. Before reaching the summit, the cable car at Rifugio Fedare offered a perfect pause: as I ascended, I found myself in the presence of the majestic Averau.

Behind it, a trail leads to Nuvolau, an unmissable hike for those who love awe-inspiring views. But if you’re looking for adventure, there’s an even more exciting option: descend towards Rifugio Scoiattoli, visible from above, and continue on foot to Rifugio 5 Torri. Or, you can take the cable car for an easier route. Every step and every view makes you feel part of this extraordinary Dolomite landscape.
